When a patient arrives for boarding, use their reservation on the boarding schedule to check them in, create their consultation, and check them out.
Check in the patient reservation
- Click the Schedule tab.
- Click Boarding.
- Navigate to the applicable date.
- Locate the patient’s reservation on the schedule.
Tip: In the Search for patient box, enter part or all of the patient name, client first name, client last name, or any combination to locate a reservation. For more information about navigating the boarding schedule, see FAQs: Boarding. - Click the Reserved button.
- Select Checked In.
Note: The user who checked in the reservation will be recorded on the Check In /Check Out popover card. - In the Notes box, enter any notes, if needed. For example, owner provided food, medication, or belongings left with the pet. The notes save automatically.
- Optional: To create a consultation for this reservation, click the Reservation Information icon. Then click the Create Consultation button.
Note: The arrival date, departure date, reservation notes, and check-in notes will automatically be transferred to the consultation.
Tip: You can navigate to the consultation from the boarding reservation by clicking the View Consultation button.
Check out the patient reservation
- Click the Schedule tab.
- Click Boarding.
- Navigate to the applicable date.
- Locate the patient’s reservation on the schedule.

- Select Checked Out.
Note: The user who checked out the reservation will be recorded on the Check In /Check Out popover card. - In the Notes box, enter any notes, if needed.
- Click anywhere outside the Check In /Check Out popover card and current reservation to close the popover card.
