Create new patient and client from an appointment

You can create a new patient directly from a new appointment, so you do not have to leave the schedule when an existing client is scheduling an appointment for their new pet.

You can also create a new client and patient record from the appointment when you have a new client and patient coming to your practice.

Before adding a new patient, it is recommended you complete a thorough search from the patient search on the New Appointment window to prevent accidentally creating a duplicate.

You can search for a patient by full or partial patient name and last name, by client first and last name, or by phone number. If you search by client name or phone number, you will only see patients belonging to the current client that have a patient record in Neo.

  • If your search found the patient you wish to make an appointment for, select the patient.
  • If your search found the client but not the patient, click +Add New Patient to add a new patient to an existing client.
  • If your search found neither the client nor patient, click +Add New Client and Patient to add a new client and patient. 

Create a new patient from an appointment  

  1. From an open New Appointment window, click +Add New Patient.
  2. Click the client Search dropdown. Then search for and select the client.
    If you cannot find the client, click Back. Then go to Create a new client and patient from an appointment in this article.
    Note: You can search for a client by full or partial first and /or last name, or any phone number. Clients are sorted alphabetically by last name, then first name.
  3. Enter the patient name. This is a required field.
  4. Enter additional information about the patient, as available.
    Note: You must select the patient's species prior to selecting their breed. The breed list will display the breeds associated with the selected species.
  5. Click Save.

You will be brought back to the New Appointment window. Continue making the appointment as usual.

 

Create a new client and patient from an appointment

  1. From an open New Appointment window, click +Add New Client and Patient.
  2. Enter the client first name and last name. These are required fields.
  3. Enter additional client information, as available.
    Tip: Enter at least one phone number, so you have a way to communicate with the client. We recommend always adding the home phone; and if you want to communicate with the client via SMS, also add the mobile number.
  4. Enter the patient name. This is a required field.
  5. Enter additional patient information, as available.
    Note: You must select the patient's species prior to selecting their breed. The breed list will display the breeds associated with the selected species.
  6. Click Save.

You will be brought back to the New Appointment window. Continue making the appointment as usual
