Discharge the patient

When the appointment is over and you are ready to discharge the patient, you can save the consultation and print any related documents.

  1. Search for and select a patient.
  2. Click the Consults tab. Then click the consultation ID to open the consultation.
  3. Optional. Print prescription labels, as needed.
  4. Optional. To print any special forms, click the form link under the product name.
  5. Close the consultation, if needed.
      • When the consultation invoice total is more or less than $0, click the Ready to Pay button. 
      • When the consultation invoice total is $0 or is only notes, click the Close Consultation button.
    IMPORTANT: Do not close the consultation until it is complete as patient reminders are created, updated, or deleted; and callback tasks are created and assigned to the line item provider.
  6. To take a payment and print or email the invoice, click Pay. See Take a Payment for more information.
    Or
    To print or email the invoice, click the Print button and select Invoice or Invoice (No Prices).

Tip: If the consultation notes are complete, consultation notes can be locked at any time by a user with the Edit Consultations permission.

Note: By default, website information and page numbers may appear on documents you print using your local printer. See Remove headers and footers on printed documents
