Tips for using IDEXX Neo

Get the most out of IDEXX Neo with these tips!

Recommended browsers and internet speed requirements

Recommended browsers

We recommend you download and use the latest version of Google Chrome for using IDEXX Neo.

We also support Safari and Firefox (latest version).

IMPORTANT: Other browsers may work, but certain features may not work or be limited in functionality.

Note: To ensure all features in Neo work properly, do not use privacy mode and disable popup blockers.

Internet speed requirements and additional technical information

As a reference, we highly recommend that for an average 7–10 user practice, the practice’s Internet connection be able to support a minimum speed of 3 megabits per second (mbps) for an Internet throughput application like IDEXX Neo.

For more information, see the Neo Technical Overview at the bottom of this article and Neo Software FAQs.

Turn off Chrome auto-fill

To make sure you don’t see saved or previously-entered information each time you complete a field, turn off autofill in Chrome. The autofill property is found in Settings > Autofill.

Deactivate pop-up blocker

IDEXX Neo relies on pop-ups when opening forms and reports for printing. If you cannot see these pop-ups, check whether your browser is using a pop-up blocker, and if so, deactivate it (for example, by default, Google Chrome blocks pop-ups from automatically showing up on your screen).

Logging in to Neo

To log in to Neo, you will need your practice's unique company ID, plus your username and password.

Note:  For security purposes, if more than ten (10) unsuccessful login attempts are made, your account will be locked for 30 minutes. We cannot unlock a locked account.

If you need to reset your password, you can do so either during the 30 minute lockout period or after the 30 minutes is up. After 30 minutes has passed, you may attempt to log in to Neo again.

Education and Training

You can learn how to use IDEXX Neo with its built-in training tools! As a new user, you will start by accessing the Neo University tab found on the right side of Neo on any desktop or laptop device. Here you can choose which courses to complete that are right for your role. Courses include videos, articles, quizzes, and walkthroughs i.e., short tutorials that guide you through workflows and tasks in IDEXX Neo.

Note: More courses will continue to be added to Neo University. After completing the courses available to you, click the Help Me tab at the bottom of Neo then select Training for more training walkthroughs. Not all users will need to complete all of the training walkthroughs available here.

Looking for how to do something in Neo without taking a full course? The Help Me tab at the bottom of Neo allows you to search among all education resources including:

  • How-to articles
  • FAQs containing answers to the top questions asked by users
  • Recent improvement articles and release notes
  • Videos including past user webinars
  • Walkthroughs

Note the following when using the built-in training tools:

  • If you do not have the necessary permissions to complete a walkthrough, you will be directed to reach out to your practice administrator for access. It will also provide you with any available articles for you to learn more on the topic.
  • If a walkthrough stops unexpectedly, reselect the walkthrough from the Help Me or Neo University tabs. The walkthrough should restart in the same place where it stopped.
  • The Help Me and Neo University tabs will not display in Safari for Mac users if the browser is preventing cross-site tracking. This setting can be found in Safari > Settings, then click Privacy.
  • Closed captions, full screen, and video speed settings are available on all videos.
