Use procedure templates on a consultation or estimate

Using procedure templates ensures consistency when recording consultation notes, invoices, and estimates in your practice.

Multiple procedure templates can be added to a single consultation or estimate.

Use a procedure template

  1. Start a new consultation.
    Or
  2. Open an existing consultation.
  3. From the Procedure Templates drop-down, click the down arrow to search for and select a template in the list. 
    Tip: For procedure templates you use most frequently, click the Favorites icon NC_PT_unfavorite_star.pngto the right of the template name. This will change the Favorites icon from white to gold NC_PT_favorite_star.png; and the template will now display at the top of your Procedure Templates list.
  4. In the Procedure Template window, preview the template.
  5. Review the products and services and update quantities, as needed.
    Note: When you update a quantity to zero (0) or leave the quantity blank, the product will not be added to the consultation.
  6. Click Add.
  7. To add another procedure template to this consultation, repeat steps 4-7, as needed.

To use procedure templates on an estimate, after you create or update an estimate follow steps 3-8 above.

Additional information

Adding procedure templates to closed consultations

Procedure templates notes, products, or both can be added to closed consultations based on the status of the consultation or consultation notes:

    • Draft consultation with unlocked notes: notes and products
    • Draft consultation with locked notes: products only
    • Closed consultation with unlocked notes: notes only

Note: You cannot select a procedure template when the notes are locked.

Procedure templates Favorites list

  • Procedure templates Favorites are based on the logged in user, so make sure your username is in the upper-right corner. If needed, click the username, select Switch Users, and enter your Neo credentials.
  • The logged in user’s favorite procedure templates will always display at the top of the Procedure Templates drop-down list even when searching by keyword.
  • For multi-branch practices. Procedure templates Favorites are per branch, so make sure you have set your practice template favorites for each branch you have access to.
