Trupanion-enrolled practices with a Neo-Trupanion integration can automatically identify eligible patients for an Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) upon check-in of a qualifying healthy appointment.
When your client confirms their interest in learning more about the Exam Day Offer (Opportunity), you can electronically send the offer in one-click right from Neo! Trupanion will take it from there!
Note: In Australia, the Trupanion Exam Day Offer is called Exam Day Opportunity.
Client and Patient Eligibility
Clients and patients are eligible to receive an Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) when they meet the following criteria:
- Client information
- Valid email saved to record
- State and postal code are in the United States, Canada, or Australia
- Patient information
- Species – Canine or Feline
- Breed of record is matched to the Trupanion breed
- Age between 0 – 36 months
- Patient has qualifying “healthy” appointment scheduled
What is a “healthy” appointment?
"Healthy" appointments include appointment types for new clients /patients; preventive or wellness care; vaccinations; and spays and neuters and may contain variations of:
- Annual /Preventive /Wellness
- Exam - Health Certificate
- New Client /New Patient
- Puppy and Kitten
- Spays and Neuters – Canine or Feline
- Vaccine /Vaccination /Booster
The Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) will automatically display when you check in a healthy appointment for an eligible patient.
Prerequisites: Trupanion enrollment; Trupanion integration with Neo.

Send Trupanion Exam Day Offers (Opportunities)
You can open the Trupanion Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) either from a "healthy appointment" or from a patient consultation. Once you are viewing the Exam Day Offer (Opportunity), you can check patient eligibility and send the offer.
Open the Exam Day Offer from an appointment
The appointment must be checked in to Arrived status (click the Not Arrived, No Show, or Late status) for the Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) window to open.
- Click the Schedule tab. Then locate the patient’s appointment on the schedule.
or - Click the Home tab. Then locate the patient’s appointment.
- Click the appointment status (Not Arrived, No Show, Late) to check in the appointment and update the status to Arrived.
- Go to Check Patient Eligibility and Send Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) below to continue.
Open the Exam Day Offer from a consultation
A consultation can be started from an appointment or from the patient record to open the Exam Day Offer.
- Search for and select the patient.
- To start a new consultation, click Create Consultation.

To use an existing draft consultation, click the Consults tab. Then click the consultation ID to open the draft consultation. - Click the Send Insurance Offer button under the date picker on the upper-right.
Note: The Send Insurance Offer button will be disabled when a patient does not meet the eligibility requirements.

Check Patient Eligibility and Send Exam Day Offer (Opportunity)
After you check in an appointment to Arrived status or click the Send Insurance Offer button on a consultation, you can check patient eligibility and send the Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) on behalf of the client.
- As applicable. Review and update any missing or invalid information in the client and patient records in the Insurance Eligibility window. *Denotes required fields:

Age* - Complete and send the Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) agreement on the customers behalf.
- If you do not see the Insurance Offer Eligibility window, skip to step 2.

In the Insurance Offer Eligibility window, review and update any missing or invalid client and /or patient information.

Click Check Eligibility.

If the patient is eligible, you will see the Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) window prompting you to capture consent from the client before sending the offer. Review or update the selections, then click Send Offer.
Note: The text message agreement will not display if the client does not have a mobile number saved to their record. -
If the patient is not eligible, you will see a message letting you know the Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) cannot be extended.

Additional information
- When the Exam Day offer (Opportunity) is successfully sent, a confirmation will display.
- Whether the patient is eligible for an Exam Day Offer (Opportunity), any information entered in the window will be saved to the respective client /patient record.
- Trupanion will send an email – and if selected, text message – to the client with Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) information.
- An Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) can be sent a maximum of two times per patient. A second Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) can be sent only within 180 days of the first one being sent.
Tip: Your practice can decide to record whether the Exam Day Offer (Opportunity) was accepted or declined, the date, and name of the client either in the Notes box on the patient Overview tab or in the patient Communication Log.
