This article covers frequently asked questions about setting up the boarding schedule and managing reservations.
SETUP
Cage types and cages are entered in Administration > Boarding. You must enter at least one cage type and one cage before you can make boarding reservations for pets.

Cage types and cages are listed alphanumerically on the Boarding schedule and in Administration > Boarding.
USAGE
From the Boarding schedule, navigate to the day of the reservation using the calendar or arrows. Then click on the Search for pet box, and enter part or all of the pet's name, client first name, client last name, or any combination to locate a reservation. Examples:

From the Boarding schedule, deselect the checkbox next to each reservation you want to filter from your view. For example, if you only want to view checked in reservations, deselect the check boxes next to Reserved and Checked Out.
You can schedule a multi-pet reservation by scheduling a reservation for each pet who will be boarding. If your practice allows, and per client instruction, you can add pet siblings to a single cage or room. Note the suggested capacity under the room name on the boarding schedule.

There is no system restriction to the number of pets you can add to a cage at the same time. Click in the margin below the current reservation. Then click the plus sign to open the New Reservation window to complete the new reservation.

If your practice is using SmartFlow, you can enter pet boarding activities in SmartFlow.
For Practices Not Using SmartFlow
Create a consultation:
- Create a consultation from a checked-in reservation. For more information, see Check in /check out a patient boarding reservation.
- From the Provider drop-down list, select the provider.
- Add the boarding charges to the Product/Service area on the consultation. Change the line item provider, if necessary.
- Click Save Consultation.
- Continue to update the consultation throughout the boarding stay.
- When the patient is ready to check out, select the Is this invoice ready to be paid? check box and close the invoice.
- Collect payment.
For Practices Using SmartFlow
You can add a patient to SmartFlow either from a saved, draft consultation or a procedure on the Procedures tab.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Boarding needs to be turned on and configured by your practice in Administration > Boarding before you see it on your schedule and begin making reservations.

From the Boarding schedule, locate the checked in reservation. Then click the Checked In button. On the Check In /Check Out popover card, select Reserved.
Note: the user that checked in the reservation and the checked in date will be removed when the reservation status has been updated.
