Connect Vetek Labs integration with Neo

For US customers only

Learn how to integrate Vetek Lab with Neo, so your practice can order reference diagnostic tests and receive results within the patient record.

Prerequisite: Vetek Labs account is required. Please contact Vetek Labs for further details.

Follow the steps below to set up your Vetek Labs integration with Neo.

Note: If you practice has existing diagnostic integrations with Neo, you can skip this step.

The default diagnostic markup and tax rate in Branch Settings are automatically applied to all diagnostic products, so review these values before connecting Vetek Labs to Neo to reduce or eliminate the need to manually update products later.

Go to Administration > Branch Settings to review these defaults. See Set up diagnostic markup for additional information.

All Vetek Labs diagnostic orders and results are communicated into Neo through your Vetek Labs account.

Please contact Vetek Labs customer support before connecting your account to Neo to verify your account is ready for integration.

  • the list of services is automatically downloaded into Neo.

It is now time to manage reference data.

Vetek Labs uses standard terms to recognize your branch's species and genders, so mapping is a critical step. Note that mapping species and genders is required.

  1. In Neo click your username. Then select Administration.
  2. In the System Admin section, select Integrations.
  3. For multi-branch practices only. From the branch dropdown, review or select the branch whose reference data you want to manage.
  4. Click the Diagnostics tab.
  5. Under the Vetek Labs section, click the menu button menu_button.png and select Manage Reference Data.
  6. Click the tab to map (Species, Sex).
  7. Click Show [number] unmapped to view only the unmapped items.
  8. The list on the left shows your practice’s values. In the corresponding field on the right, search for and select the corresponding Vetek Labs value. Your changes are saved automatically.
  9. For multi-branch practices only. Repeat these steps for each branch, as needed.

Note: If you add additional species later, you will need to return to this page and map the new species to standard Vetek Labs terms.

Before you can order Vetek Labs tests from Neo, you must activate the diagnostic products your practice wants to use.

  1. On the menu, click your name. Then, click Diagnostics.
  2. Click Directory of Services.
  3. Select the checkbox next to each directory test you use in your practice.
Tips to locate the products to activate:
    • Select Vetek Labs to filter the source.
    • Use the search box to find a specific diagnostic product.
    • Select the Show only new last 30 days checkbox to display tests recently downloaded to the directory from Vetek Labs.
  4. Click Activate.
Note: Activated diagnostic products are added to the product list and can immediately be ordered from a consultation.
  5. Click a test's name to review or update the pricing information.
    • For Vetek Labs tests, the Unit Cost Price (list price) is automatically downloaded and will update if Zoetis changes the cost in the directory of services.
    • The Diagnostic Unit Cost Price and Markup Rate determine the Unit Selling Price.
ref lab product automatic pricing details.png
    • If you manually adjust the Unit Cost Price or Unit Selling Price, the Diagnostic Unit Cost Price will no longer automatically update the selling price if Zoetis changes the cost in the directory of services.
      • You can adjust the markup rate for this product without affecting automatic pricing updates.
      • You can also reset this product to automatic pricing by clicking the blue automatic pricing link.
  6. Click Save Changes.

  • If you have diagnostic tests in your Products list that you are replacing with Vetek Labs diagnostic products that you activated from the Directory of Services, you must make your existing products inactive to prevent staff confusion and avoid duplicate product names (for example, having two Complete Blood Count products to choose from when you search for Complete Blood Count on a consultation).
  • Remember, you must enter the Vetek Labs directory product on the consultation to order it from Neo.

You're done!

Now that you have activated and priced your Vetek Lab tests:

  • The results for diagnostics ordered from a consultation will automatically appear on the task list on the home page, and in the patient Results tab. See Order diagnostic products for more information.
  • Unmatched results (for example, from an add-on order) will appear on the Diagnostic Orders and Results page, where you'll need to reconcile them. See Reconcile unmatched orders and results for more information.
